Your Safeguard When Making Decisions

When you must make important decisions regarding your health, finances, marriage, family, job, your children’s education, and more, be sure you gather counsel and advice from several people you respect—people who are wise and experienced.

The wisdom contained in Proverbs 11:14 is your safeguard: “Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” If you rely on yourself, your feelings, your limited knowledge, and your best friends or coworkers (who may tell you what you wantto hear), you may make a decision that takes you in the wrong direction. By seeking multiple opinions, you are gathering the collective wisdom, knowledge, and experience of others.

Sit at their feet. Soak up their wisdom. God tells us the independent, ignorant, self-sufficient, proud fool will fall. And, praise Him, He promises the humble seeker of God’s will and truth will experience victory.

In Proverbs for a Woman’s Day, Elizabeth George takes you on a journey through the 31 chapters of Proverbs, which cover the matters closest to your heart, including how to…

  • trust in God when it’s hard
  • find fulfillment in your marriage
  • train and enjoy your children
  • conquer your bad habits
  • pursue lasting success

I never truly realized the extent to which I wrestled with Him over both the simplest of things, and the big things, until I had children. Yet, I would always hear Him whisper to my spirit, “I will protect them. Trust me.”
